On November 6, 2022, SECO MARINE had the pleasure of attending the 12th Mautiyak-Torqeedo Kayak Fishing Competition at Mont Choisy. This fishing competition attracted 114 participants, making it a not-to-be-missed event for fishing enthusiasts in Mauritius.

The organizing committee divided the fish into 9 distinct categories. Each category required the mastery of specific fishing techniques and the respect of minimum sizes. Thanks to this rigorous approach, the judges were able to assess the catches fairly, while respecting marine resources. After seven hours of intense competition, the catches were methodically checked, weighed and counted.

The organizers awarded two special prizes. Marie Cindy Casimir, the only female entrant, received an award for her exceptional participation. Patrick Pitot, the oldest participant, also received an award. In addition, Torqeedo, the competition’s main partner and a specialist in electric motors for boats and kayaks, donated an Ultralight 403 AC motor worth around Rs 100,000 in a prize draw.

We are also offering this ultralight 915kW (equivalent to 3CV) outboard motor, ideal for kayaks, canoes and very light craft, for sale at our agency in Bambous.

The Mautiyak-Torqeedo Kayak Fishing Competition kicked off at 5:30 am with 110 anglers ready to take on the challenge. Among the highlights of the day, the biggest catch was an impressive 7.6 kg blue trevally.

SECO MARINE is proud to be associated with this event, which celebrates not only the passion of fishing but also environmental responsibility. As such, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainability and respect for the environment.
